I spent my day off work working.\u00a0 Enterprising, no?\u00a0 I created a small site for my vanity label Hannifin Records<\/a>.\u00a0 Of course, there’s not much there yet.\u00a0 But you can see a bit more of my first album’s cover art revealed in the title banner.\u00a0 And, if you navigate your way through it a bit, there’s a page for the album with previews of all the tracks.\u00a0 Next I need to experiment with PayPal buttons, since I’m guessing that’s what I’ll use to take orders.<\/p>\n

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland review<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also, I just got home from watching Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland<\/em>.\u00a0 Read no further if you plan on seeing the movie yourself and fear having your opinions tainted by my own.<\/p>\n

Still reading?\u00a0 OK, well, that’s your own fault.<\/p>\n

I liked some things, didn’t like others.\u00a0 Like most movies.<\/p>\n

The artistry was great.\u00a0 Especially the architecture of the castles, in my opinion.\u00a0 Just awesome stuff, awesome to look at.\u00a0 I do wish I could live in castles so well designed.\u00a0 Though how do you get a laptop to go with the surroundings?\u00a0 The special effects were great; I look forward to seeing them on blu-ray eventually.\u00a0 (Our movie theaters here still don’t seem to like using digital projection or actually putting the picture in perfect focus.)\u00a0 The music was also very good.\u00a0 Danny Elfman’s music does tend to please me.\u00a0 I’ll probably buy the soundtrack.\u00a0 Good film music, especially compared to the more-atmospheric-less-melodic music films tend to be using nowadays.\u00a0 Why don’t they throw us a crumb?\u00a0 What’s wrong with letting us tap our toes a bit?\u00a0 I’ll let you know when Stravinski has a hit… oops, sorry.\u00a0 Helena B. Carter was also very funny.<\/p>\n

The bad… just about everything else.\u00a0 Which I actually won’t blather about because, you know, I like to focus on the good.\u00a0 OK, actually I’m just lazy.\u00a0 But I do think I could’ve written a better script.\u00a0 If I didn’t have to base it on a book.\u00a0 I mean, with such awesome visual artistry, I think there are more interesting stories to be told.\u00a0 Why keep telling the same stories?<\/p>\n

I did get a few ideas for novels and short stories while watching.\u00a0 And the ending kind of made me want to invent a bunch of chess variants.<\/p>\n

That’s all I have to say.\u00a0 Guess what I get to do all weekend?\u00a0 Go to work!\u00a0 Yeah!!<\/p>\n
