{"id":463,"date":"2009-05-30T02:38:35","date_gmt":"2009-05-30T06:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/?p=463"},"modified":"2009-05-30T02:38:35","modified_gmt":"2009-05-30T06:38:35","slug":"disney-records-is-evil-and-stupid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/?p=463","title":{"rendered":"Disney Records is evil and stupid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Me whining<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new Pixar movie Up just came out.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t seen it yet, but look forward to sometime in the next couple weeks.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t wait to see Pixar animation goodness in 3D!<\/p>\n<p>Right now, as far as I can tell, Pixar is the only good part of Disney.\u00a0 (Well, them and the theme park rides.)\u00a0 In fact, Disney executives should just fire themselves and let Pixar take over.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Up soundtrack\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wizardwalk.com\/images\/up.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"130\" \/>Anyway, I&#8217;m pretty angry with Disney right now.\u00a0 I saw that Michael Giacchino composed the score the Pixar&#8217;s new film, Up.\u00a0 Giacchino also did the scores for The Incredibles and Ratatouille.\u00a0 These are two of my favorite film soundtracks of all time; Giacchino is just brilliant.\u00a0 I was really looking forward to adding the Up CD soundtrack to my collection . . . but NOOoooOOO . . . <a href=\"http:\/\/pixarblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/exclusive-no-up-soundtrack-cd-disney.html\">according to this post<\/a>, Walt Disney Records doesn&#8217;t plan on releasing a physical CD.\u00a0 They&#8217;re selling the score as <em>download only<\/em>, through iTunes and Amazon and such.<\/p>\n<p>What the?!\u00a0 Why?!?\u00a0 Is creating physical CDs that expensive?\u00a0 Do they think all the people who would have bought the physical CD will just as happily download the album for only $3 less?\u00a0 Did they think it was <em>just<\/em> about the music?\u00a0 No, no, no . . . if it was just about the music, there&#8217;d be no reason to buy anything.\u00a0 For physical CDs, it&#8217;s about having something physical, something collectible, something you can easily play in any CD player.\u00a0 For digital downloads, it&#8217;s about convenience.\u00a0 One click (or a few) and you got the music you want.\u00a0 These are non-transferable.\u00a0 If I can&#8217;t have a physical CD, what incentive at all do I have for purchasing a download?\u00a0 That&#8217;s not what I wanted.<\/p>\n<p>So thanks a lot, stupid Walt Disney Records!\u00a0 I hate you now!\u00a0 And I&#8217;m not buying a digital download for this movie soundtrack!<\/p>\n<p>Or . . . who knows?\u00a0 Maybe the blog post is wrong, or maybe they&#8217;ll release a physical CD in a few years?\u00a0 Well, by then it will be too late!\u00a0 You big pathetic losers!<\/p>\n<p>Stinks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Me whining The new Pixar movie Up just came out.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t seen it yet, but look forward to sometime in the next couple weeks.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t wait to see Pixar animation goodness in 3D!
