It&#8217;s great stuff, catchy melodies, memorable lyrics. While listening to the third track, &#8220;Personal Giants&#8221;, a simple four-note phrase that appears at the end of the main melody caught my ear. You can hear it first appear at about 12 seconds in:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aKaT0QIxeFk?start=12\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Just those four notes there. &#8220;And kept the light&#8230;&#8221; And again at 30 seconds in. &#8220;You told me time&#8230;&#8221; Sounds like a simple ascending major triad, with a minor chord on the second beat. Something like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/phrase.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/phrase.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"149\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2418\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/phrase.png 550w, http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/phrase-300x81.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-2416-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Phrase.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Phrase.mp3\">http:\/\/wizardwalk.com\/newblather\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Phrase.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>This simple phrase stuck out to me because it reminded me of one of my favorite film scores, James Horner&#8217;s score for <em>The Land Before Time<\/em>. The &#8220;Great Valley&#8221; theme begins with a similar phrase, an ascending major triad with a minor chord (iii?) on the second beat. You can hear it enter at 3:07 in this track:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9oVZXPRGeWA?start=187\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Other than those four notes, the melodies are quite different. But to me they&#8217;re memorable enough that hearing them in Radical Face&#8217;s song immediately conjured up images of Little Foot and rocks and a great valley and dead cloud dino Mama beckoning&#8230; And the lyrics in &#8220;Personal Giants&#8221; perhaps <em>could<\/em> apply to Little Foot. &#8220;To me you&#8217;re a giant, some distant lighthouse&#8221; &#8230; maybe a stretch, but it could work, yep yep yep.<\/p>\n<p>So then just the other day Radical Face does a livestream Q&#038;A, and what does he say at 37:07? Behold&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tF_zObUNMPg?start=2227\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ooh, I love movie soundtracks. Some top ones would be, I really specifically adore <em>The Land Before Time<\/em> soundtrack by James Horner. I think it&#8217;s so good.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aha!! You see?! Clear and undeniable evidence of musical influence here!
