More random genealogy trivia.\u00a0 (This stuff is perhaps meaningless, but it\u2019s fun.)\u00a0 I knew actor Gregory Peck was supposedly in the family tree somewhere, but I like to find the exact connections to prove it if I can.<\/p>\n
So I knew my great great great grandmother was Nora Ashe from Ireland.\u00a0 (My father\u2019s father\u2019s father\u2019s father\u2019s mother.)\u00a0 And I knew the Ashe family tree from Ireland was large.\u00a0 Gregory Peck\u2019s Wikipedia page mentions a grandmother named Catherine Ashe.\u00a0 Aha!\u00a0 Ashe!\u00a0 That\u2019s the connection!\u00a0 So, if this Ashe family tree<\/a> I found online is correct, I just had to find out how Catherine and Nora were connected.<\/p>\n The connection is a James Ashe, who would be Gregory Peck\u2019s great great great grandfather (his father\u2019s mother\u2019s father\u2019s father\u2019s father) and my great great great great great grandfather (Nora\u2019s grandfather, or my father\u2019s father\u2019s father\u2019s father\u2019s mother\u2019s father\u2019s father, if you like).<\/p>\n Which makes actor Gregory Peck my fourth cousin, twice removed.<\/p>\n So why didn\u2019t he ever come to visit us?\u00a0 I\u2019ll never know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" More random genealogy trivia.\u00a0 (This stuff is perhaps meaningless, but it\u2019s fun.)\u00a0 I knew actor Gregory Peck was supposedly in the family tree somewhere, but I like to find the exact connections to prove it if I can.
